Exclusive video premier of ‘Doppelganger’ by Spanish indie-rock band San Marino.

‘Doppelganger’ is the first single from the Spanish indie-rock band San Marino’s upcoming EP that will be released in late spring 2021 on Anomic Records. The music is driven by simple guitar melodies inspired by the New York scene during the past decade with bands like Beach Fossils, Diiv, The Strokes and Jane Church. This is the first time bandleader Conrado Alvarez releases a song in English, which he sees as an introduction letter to his music for the rest of Europe and as a new way to express himself.

To explain the lyrical content of the single, Alvarez says: “The song refers to the battle of emotions that sometimes arises within a person and evokes the inner mythological Doppelganger.”

The coming EP and the two previous releases were recorded and produced in Berlin by Leonard Kaage who is known for his work with bands like Errorr, The Underground Youth, Holy Motors and more. The video nicely shows both sides of the Doppelganger as Conrado described. The light side and the dark side. It was filmed with an analog VHS camera in the outskirts of Madrid and was co-directed by Conrado Alvarez and Maria Tejero.
