Rhodes Island, Greece. Where the mountain meets the sea and the sea meets a starlit sky. The five-piece band Hieronymus Dream found themselves in 2020 to create their own version of cosmic Psychedelic-Neo-Krautrock shamanic dream ride.
Picking up themselves after processing the first shock over the worldwide pandemic and being influenced by the rough weather conditions surrounding the island of Rhodes during Winter in isolation, it felt just natural to start a journey inwards into the psyche and into the roots of the Greek heritage.
What better story than Homer’s odyssey to put as a foundation to this new instrumental concept album. Instead of recording outside under the sky as they did with their first EP ‘Clairvoyance’, the decision was made to move their analog studio to an old traditional house at the ancient village of Lindos. With the view on the raging sea and under the acropolis of Lindos, ‘Nostos’ was created.
“Dear traveler, this is “Nostos”. Nostos (Ancient Greek: νόστος) is a theme used in Ancient Greek literature, meaning homecoming, or homeward journey. Like Homer’s Odyssey we have to gain experience through our own journey, face our monsters, overcome every obstacle, and struggle. This album reflects a journey; it’s flaws are scars left from facing the perils, they are there to remind you that it’s not meant to be easy, to accept them in order to grow stronger as people, so that we can reach our goal. As Homer once quoted “If your heart is brave, don’t be afraid of getting lost”.”
