‘Bloodline’ by Chloe Gallardo | New Album, ‘Defamator’

Exclusive video premiere of ‘Bloodline’ by Los Angeles based singer/songwriter Chloe Gallardo, taken from the upcoming album, ‘Defamator,’ out May 12th via Taxi Gauche Records.

Chloe Gallardo’s highly anticipated debut album is on the horizon and ‘Bloodline’ marks its opener. With the opening lyrics “I’m fucked up” Gallardo wants to start telling us in which direction the album is going: Struggle with mental illness, regression of life, unemployment, unsuccessful relationships. At its core, ‘Bloodline’ is a song about acceptance. Gallardo explores the feelings of disappointment and hardship that come with young adulthood, acknowledging that life is not always easy or straightforward. Yet, even in the face of these challenges, the song’s upbeat tempo and catchy chorus convey a sense of resilience and hope. Compared to her previous singles, this single takes on a more upbeat tone, hearkening back to the indie-pop sound that Gallardo first made waves with in her hit single ‘Fool’s Keeper’. The song is short but sweet, clocking in at just three minutes, but it packs a punch with its infectious melody and relatable lyrics. As the final single before the release of her debut album, ‘Bloodline’ sets the stage for what promises to be a standout record from one of the most exciting new artists in the industry. With her combination of raw talent, relatable lyrics, and infectious melodies, Chloe Gallardo is poised to make a lasting mark on the music world.

‘Defamator’ is the long-time-coming debut project of 24-year-old Chloe Gallardo. Undoubtedly her most personal work to date, ‘Defamator’ portrays melancholic sadness, self-acceptance, and anger; an emotion not previously expressed in Gallardo’s music.

‘Defamator’ tells a story of betrayal in love and friendship. Most importantly, it tells a story of the painful reality of overcoming love lost and former heartbreak. Drawing influences from bands such as Broadcast, My Bloody Valentine and other shoegaze staples, Gallardo adds her own haunting, folk-style vocals and hyper-specific lyrics to create a sound unique to her. A style that she describes in her words as “dark shoegaze indie pop.”
