‘Scaphoid’ EP by DD Island
Exclusive stream of ‘Scaphoid’ EP by lo-fi psych-pop project, DD Island.
DD Island’s first official release, the ‘Scaphoid EP’, materialized from a broken wrist…a shattered scaphoid to be exact.
After an unfortunate skateboarding accident, Rhodes found himself writing songs in his head while working at a local coffee shop, waiting for the chance to properly play his guitar again. Songs of frustration, loss, bliss and the feeling of a hot Tennessee summer spent pouring lattes in a hot pink cast, all gather together in this saturated and vulnerable EP.
“DD Island sounds like how it feels to swim around in a creek as a child. Childhood wonderment, that’s all I’m after when I set out to make music. I want people to feel what that’s like, and I’ve chosen to do so through lo-fi, psych-pop music.” Brandon Rhodes
The lush distorted guitars and roomy drums on ‘Scaphoid’ truly create the perfect space for Rhodes’ unapologetically visceral lyrics.
