‘Dead & Gone’ by Ghost Woman | New Album ‘Lost Echo’s’
Exclusive video premiere of ‘Dead & Gone’ by Ghost Woman taken from the forthcoming ‘Lost Echo’s’ EP, out August 13th on Full Time Hobby.
Arizona-via-Alberta garage-rock artist Ghost Woman, aka Evan Uschenko, delivers a rip-roaring slice of psychedelia with his new single ‘Dead & Gone’.
“I was very happy with the way the drums were captured. I remember lots of weirdly placed diffusers and a couple ribbon mics. I ended up double the whole bed track, panning each hard left and right and offsetting them a tad. It gives it that slap echo feel. Thickened it nicely.” – Evan Uschenko (Ghost Woman)
Replete with pummeling acid-rock guitars and Lennon-esque vocals, the single recalls both the recent San Francisco psych-rock stylings of like Ty Segall and Osees, and classic freakbeat artists like The Pretty Things and The Smoke (one could argue ‘Dead & Gone’ is a spiritual successor to the latter’s classic single ‘My Friend Jack’).
Uschenko is set to release his debut EP on August 13th as Ghost Woman on renown UK label Full Time Hobby. The EP, entitled ‘Lost Echo’s’, takes inspiration from Arizona’s spiritually significant Superstition Mountains, and one can hear the influence of the landscape across the EP’s 3 tracks of desert-inflected rock ‘n’ roll, eerily reflecting the abandoned farmhouse the songs were recorded in.
