‘Loop Station Drones’ by Sula Bassana | Upcoming Vinyl Release

Sula Bassana recently issued this space gem on CD and digital formats and it will be also available as a double vinyl record in Summer 2022 via Pancromatic Records.

An album recorded in 3 evenings. This time some ‘Loop Station Drones’. With guitar, effect pedals, 2 loop stations, 2 guitar amps, a syncable drum computer, a very old organ from GDR (Weltmeister TO 200/5), a very old synthesizer (Roland SH 5) and a modern one (Roland SE-02) Sula instantly composed 7 tracks.

Later Sula cutted them down a little and made some very little overdubs. ‘Roadburn Haze’ was exclusively made for the Roadburn Festival Redux in April 2021. Recorded on the 28th of March, together with tracks 2 and 7. Tracks 3-6 recorded on the 13th and 14th of May for Radio KFJC home stream-concert. But only the first 3 of them appeared.

Says Dave Schmidt about the album: “‘Roadburn Haze’ was exclusively made for the Roadburn Festival Redux in April 2021. Recorded on 28th of March. I made some cuts but no overdubs. ‘Rolling in Outer Space’ was a little piece recorded on 28th of March mainly with my early 70s Weltmeister organ and later I made some overdubs with bass and Mellotron and a NASA sample. ‘Die Karawane der Unsterblichen’ was recorded on the 13th of May for the radio KFJC at home session. No overdubs were made but I cutted a little. ‘Wastelandgarden’  and ‘Dopeshuttle’ were recorded on 14th of May also for the radio KFJC at home sessions. Some little synthy overdubs were made and I cutted a little. ‘Stargate’ was recorded on 13th of May for the radio KFJC at home session but wasn’t streamed. Some little cuts were made. ‘One Way’ was another little piece recorded on 28th of March and later I made some overdubs with electric piano and cutted a little.
