‘Delicate’ by Endearments | New EP, ‘Father of Wands’

Brooklyn synth-pop project Endearments shares a Coldplay inspired music video for ‘Delicate’, the fourth track off of the debut EP ‘Father Of Wands’.

After the EP’s release last year, ‘Delicate’, a building, swirling catharsis of a song, quickly gained traction online, and now Kevin Marksson shares a stunning companion for the track. Inspired by Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ music video, the video for ‘Delicate’ sees Marksson paying tribute to Coldplay’s, replicating it in the streets of Bushwick.

About the video, Marksson says, “when we decided to make a music video for ‘Delicate’ I knew immediately that I wanted it to be an homage to Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ video. It’s one of my all-time favorite music videos: beautiful, earnest, simple. Thematically ‘Delicate’ is really the opposite of ‘Yellow’ though. It’s a song about walking away from a bad relationship, so setting the video on an idyllic beach didn’t feel right. Filming on the street in Bushwick felt like the perfect way to pay tribute to the original while still being true to this song.”

‘Father of Wands’ is available now digitally and on limited-edition cassette via Bandcamp.

Following the end of synth-pop duo Saint Marilyn, the Brooklyn-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist began writing and composing by and for himself for the first time in over a decade. His chosen name, Endearments, is aspirational: “I wanted the name to convey affection, even though I knew the music would almost certainly be sad.”

Father of Wands’ tarot-themed title emerged long before its songs were written. “I like to draw a tarot card whenever one of my tattoos is finished,” explains Marksson. “I pulled the Father of Wands during a very turbulent breakup in 2019, but it wasn’t until the end of writing this EP the following year that I began to connect the two.”
