‘Sofà Surfers’ by Trrmà | New Album, ‘Mixtape Vol. II’
Exclusive video premiere of ‘Sofà Surfers’ by Trrmà, taken from the latest album, ‘Mixtape Vol. II,’ out January 27th, 2023 via Hyperjazz Records.
‘Sofa Surfers’ is the second video clip taken from the latest Trrmà beat collection ‘Mixtape Vol. II”, out via Hyperjazz Records. ‘Sofa Surfers’ utilizes Bass Music aesthetics with an improvisational, jazz-rooted spirit and a unique goal for integrating their diverse influences into a cohesive and emotive piece; chopped vocal loop fits in a jungle D’n’B beat, reproducing it as an arrhythmic heart blip that crash in contemplative harmonic tension.
The video contains clips of an ongoing research by Ema Jons and Marta Romaszkan. The dancer is covered in a substance made of flour and water. The sight of his human body is denied, we vaguely apprehend its shapes, pulsation and breath. This third body takes positions on the movements of its host and gives it life. A slow dance, sometimes grotesque, of beings who face their own disintegration as soon as they are born, while they learn the possibilities of movement, they fall apart. The matter limits and involves the movements, decides its course in the interaction with the elements, generates forms that recall an alien human being. A third element that is extracted through videos. A way to restore the dialogue between movement and matter.
‘Mixtape Vol. II’ is full of adventurous sounds with abstract electro-acoustics, uplifting jazz grooves, and wonky electronic vibes. Following the first work released by Hyperjazz in 2021, ‘Mixtape Vol. II’ is an explosive hybrid of experimental hip-hop and avant-garde electronic sounds. Influenced by the most refined beat-making culture, they propose – from a “live band perspective” – their personal juicy sonic sauce and their ultimate feeling of freedom. Groovy instrumentals, heavy bass-tinged tracks, subtly swung beats, weird riffs, and rowdy samples. Trrmà manipulates a dynamic range of sounds into their distinctive design that borders on psychedelic and blends with electronic synthesis.
This is definitely something worth checking out if you like to explore innovative soundscapes and blow your own mind with futuristic sights.
All tracks composed arranged and performed by Giovanni Todisco (drums) and Giuseppe Candiano (electronics) Produced, mixed, mastered by Francesco Piro Graphic design by Fortuna Todisco.
