‘Anatomized’ by Starvation Wages | New EP, ‘Marketplace Fear’

Exclusive track premiere of ‘Anatomized’ by Starvation Wages, taken from the upcoming EP, ‘Marketplace Fear,’ out October 20th, 2023.

A longtime musician and veteran of the Seattle music scene who played in various punk and indie bands, Starvation Wages has Jason Dean branch out into a new direction armed with a variety of synthesizers and samples aiming for the bodies and minds of adventurous listeners.

‘Marketplace Fear,’ the debut EP from Starvation Wages, was honed through live performances when possible, during the height of the pandemic years and the project is looking to thrive in the spaces made for this music, underground DIY spaces, illegal warehouse raves and dance clubs creating safe spaces for all as a priority.

‘Marketplace Fear’ is both a statement against the cut-throat dystopian free market, and a synonym for Agoraphobia, a condition which Dean has. He composed all the songs and played all the instruments on the album in Seattle and Vermont, assisted in mixing and mastering by Brandon Busch (Sojourner, Detroit Breakout!). Coming after several band and solo releases, one of which was by the previous band Mutiny Mutiny.

Starvation Wages is self-described “Anarcho-Techno,” new protest music rooted in topical expressions. Dean is just starting to create in the twilight of late-period capitalism and the beginning of an unknown future. “Dystopia or Utopia, we’ll decide,” Dean says. “In the meantime, the longtime Anarchist slogan provides constant inspiration: Another world is possible!”
