‘Bloodstains’ by Caixão | New Album, ‘Entre o Velho Tempo Futuro’
Exclusive track premiere of ‘Bloodstains’ by Caixão, taken from the upcoming album ‘Entre o Velho Tempo Futuro,’ scheduled for release in September 2024 via Glory or Death Records.
Hailing from Brazil, Caixão emerged onto the music scene in 2018, spearheaded by Italo Rodrigo, renowned for his thunderous drumming in Echoes of Death and Damn Youth. Transitioning to guitar, keys, and vocals in Caixão, Rodrigo showcases a remarkable versatility that breathes life into the band. The name “Caixão,” meaning “Coffin” in Portuguese, sets a darkly evocative tone, hinting at the band’s penchant for exploring deep, introspective themes.
Pinpointing Caixão’s musical genre proves challenging, as their sound defies easy categorization. Rooted in Proto Metal, their compositions weave in influences from 1970s Psychedelic and Progressive music, creating a dynamic sonic tapestry that is both hauntingly familiar and boldly innovative.
Since their inception, Caixão has weathered lineup changes and artistic reinventions, marked by a series of Splits, EPs, and Singles. Their debut full-length album, ‘Da Porta ao Sumiço,’ released in 2020, marked a pivotal moment for the band, introducing vocals alongside their instrumental prowess.
In March of this year, Caixão teased their forthcoming album with the release of ‘Luz Estranha em Quixadá,’ an instrumental track that immerses listeners in a lysergic landscape, steering away from traditional guitar solos in favor of atmospheric keys.
Their latest single, ‘Bloodstains,’ serves as a harbinger of their upcoming album, slated for release in late September. This track presents a raw, unfiltered sound that delves into themes of introspection and existential angst, tinged with glimpses of hope amidst despair. Italo Rodrigo elucidates, “This song tells the story of a prophetic figure whose warnings are met with skepticism until their fulfillment becomes undeniable. It’s a reflection on the consequences of ignoring our collective future.”
Titled ‘Entre o Velho Tempo Futuro,’ the upcoming album promises to encapsulate Caixão’s evolution succinctly. ‘Bloodstains,’ chosen as the lead single, embodies the album’s ethos—less hermetic in sound yet rich in the rawness of 60s rock and the weightiness of 70s psychedelia. Italo Rodrigo muses, “We draw from our love for prog-rock and timeless music, crafting a sound uniquely ours, marked by a blend of past influences and contemporary sensibilities.”
Fans eager to delve into Caixão’s latest musical offering can pre-order ‘Entre o Velho Tempo Futuro’ starting July 19th at High Noon CST via GloryorDeathrecords.com. The album drops officially in late September, with vinyl shipments beginning in early October. Prepare to be transported into the enigmatic world of Caixão, where each note resonates with the echoes of the past and the possibilities of the future.
