‘Break it All’ by Las Cobras | New Album, ‘Cárcavas’
Exclusive video premiere of ‘Break it All’ by Las Cobras, taken from the upcoming album, ‘Cárcavas,’ slated for release on October 4th, 2024, via Up In Her Room.
Las Cobras are back, baby, rejoining the Up In Her Room family with their first new tracks in four long years. Hailing from the under-the-radar Uruguayan city of Canelones in 2017, they burst onto the scene with ‘Temporal,’ a 9-track mind-bender that quickly planted its flag in the vast landscape of global psychedelia after signing with London’s Fuzz Club Records. Originally a dynamic duo of Leandro Rebellato and Sofia Aguerre, the band evolved to include the formidable talents of Dario Macarín and Diego Mercadal, leading to the release of their second album, ‘Selva.’
In ‘Temporal,’ Las Cobras conjured an intoxicating brew of proto-punk and shoegaze, spiced with hints of afrobeat and Tropicalia. When ‘Selva’ dropped, they dialed it up, pushing their sound into new territories. Their track ‘Al más Allá’ didn’t just sit pretty on the album; it made waves, landing a spot in the Amazon Prime series ‘La Cabeza de Joaquín Murrieta.’
Now, for their third album, ‘Cárcavas,’ Las Cobras dig deep into the concept of the cárcava—a scar on the earth, a symbol of desolation. Teaming up with London’s Up In Her Room, they deliver a darker, more chaotic opus, mirroring the upheaval of recent years. The band continues to push their sonic boundaries, weaving in electronic drums, Latin percussion, searing synthesizers, and fuzz-drenched guitars, all with a raw, stripped-down approach.
Las Cobras—ever the enigmatic wanderers—remain in perpetual orbit, venturing into shadowy depths and traversing the cosmos.
