‘Phony Love’ by Bear Of Bombay | New Album, ‘PsychoDreamElectroGaze’
Bear Of Bombay presents ‘Phony Love’, taken from the upcoming album ‘PsychoDreamElectroGaze,’ slated for release on September 20, 2024, via Waddafuzz Records, Shoredive Records, and No Me Escucho Records.
Amidst kosmische beats and explosions of vivid color, Bear Of Bombay, the brainchild of Milanese multi-instrumentalist Lorenzo Parisini, carves out a sonic space all its own. His third single, ‘Phony Love,’ drops today—September 6, 2024—on all digital platforms, teasing his forthcoming album ‘PsychoDreamElectroGaze,’ set for release on September 20 via Waddafuzz, Shoredive, No Me Escucho Records, and I Dischi del Minollo.
‘Phony Love’ channels the electro-pop ethos of the 80s, blending the melodic pulse of Pet Shop Boys and Depeche Mode with the distorted chaos of post-punk noise and a certain krautrock sensibility. The track’s music video plunges into a nightmarish vision of toxic love, wrapped in acid-soaked visuals and aggressive effects. It’s a haunting trip—unsettling, magnetic, and desperate to break free. The protagonist’s gaze recalls Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte, a figure who dances on the line between life and death, seducing and terrifying in equal measure.
Produced and recorded by Bear Of Bombay, with additional production and recording at Casamedusa Studios in Milan by Francesco Campanozzi, the track was ultimately shaped in London by James Aparicio (Spiritualized, Mogwai, Depeche Mode, Liars, Nick Cave, Cult Of Dom Keller), who handled mixing and mastering. Buckle up—this ride is far from smooth.
