Monteceneri Unveils Mesmerizing Visuals for ‘Call of the Void’ from Upcoming EP ‘Due’
Monteceneri, the Milan-based band formed in 2019, blends post-rock atmospheres with electronic elements to create a sound that resists confinement.
Following their 2021 singles ‘Evo,’ ‘Heimweh,’ and ‘Plan O,’ the group returns with their new EP ‘Due,’ set to release on January 24, 2025, via Lady Lovely Label. Recorded and mixed by Ruggero Catania and mastered by Mauro Andreolli at das Ende der Dinge studio, Due showcases the band’s evolution. Today, Monteceneri unveils a stunning music video for ‘Call of the Void,’ the opening track of the EP, directed and edited by Marec.
“This is not the first time I have collaborated with the Monteceneri.” comments Marec. “Their songs, characterized by long and deep tempos, offer me the opportunity to explore and create small short films that turn into real musical journeys. With “Call of the Void”, we took the time to pay homage to the immense breath of their music, inspired by a scene from the book Oceano mare by Alessandro Baricco. In that story, there was a man painting the sea using the sea itself; here, however, we imagined a young boy drawing the lake with the lake.”
When asked about the track, Monteceneri said: “We composed ‘Call of the Void’ in the immediate aftermath of the 2020 lockdown, when all reference to what our lives and daily lives had been seemed (or perhaps were) permanently changed to be sucked into an elusive dystopian vortex. When we presented the track to Marec, our lifelong music video director, we gave him carte blanche just asking him to be inspired by the sounds giving free rein to his imagination.”
Marec disuses the video, “This is not the first time I have collaborated with the Monteceneri.
