Marty Bohannon’s A Scar Is Born & Matt Bohannon’s Go Back To Your Roots Premiere
Marty and Matt Bohannon are set to release their new albums on February 28th via Cornelius Chapel Records, and we’re thrilled to premiere them both.
The Bohannons have been making music their own way for over 20 years, carving out a path that’s never quite fit into any one category. Chattanooga’s best-kept secret, led by brothers Marty and Matt Bohannon, is one of those bands that should be a household name but remains a hidden treasure. Fresh off 2023’s ‘Night Construction,’ the brothers decided to shake things up—each recording a solo album.
Marty’s ‘A Scar Is Born’ plays on the classic title A Star Is Born while exploring themes of wounds, healing, and transformation. “A scar is a newborn cut? Either way, I got ‘em… all the cuts you need, all the scars… let me tell you about them,” he says.
Meanwhile, Matt’s ‘Go Back To Your Roots’ is his second solo album, recorded with Jarrod Gee at As Elyzum Studio and mastered by Bronson Tew of Good Problems Studios. “This is a Chattanooga album made with some of the very best of Chattanooga,” he says of the record, which features contributions from members of the original Cherry Street lineup (Big Ole Roots), along with guest spots that helped shape it into the “psychedelic country album of my dreams.” He adds, “Super proud of this one. Hope y’all give it a spin while you clean the kitchen. Cheers y’all!”
But for all their individual strengths, the Bohannons are still a unit. Step into their bar, Cherry Street Tavern, and you’ll see it—the unspoken bond, the easy way they move around each other. They don’t have to say much. The music does all the talking.
