Purrses ‘Ride the Dragon’ into a ‘Reality Fantasy’
Brussels-based Purrses, led by the magnetic Laura Ruggiero, are bringing a fresh spin to glam wave and art rock, mixing punk’s energy with a pop and hip hop.
Their sound is equal parts throwback and forward-thinking…a fusion of 70s and 80s rock textures, modern grit, and a theatrical streak that keeps everything unpredictable.

After a self-produced debut EP and the full-analog ‘Wrong Tide,’ released across three indie Belgian labels, Purrses are gearing up for their long-awaited debut album. ‘Reality Fantasy’ lands on May 16, 2025, on vinyl and digital via JauneOrange, Rockerill Records, and Cheap Satanism, promising a heady dive into their offbeat world.
The first taste of the album, ‘Ride the Dragon,’ drops today, accompanied by a striking video directed by Felicitas Jander. The track struts with choppy guitars and a slow-burning groove, a wry, satirical take on gender roles wrapped in a shimmering, glam-pop package. Part fable, part battle cry, it flips the dragon myth into a symbol of power—an anthem for fearless women who refuse to be tamed.
Visually, the video is equal parts gothic dream and surreal fantasy. Rejecting the usual rock clichés, it draws from hip-hop aesthetics to tell the story of a fallen bride on a quest for self-definition. Marriage, long held as a symbol of feminine virtue, becomes a proving ground for independence, while the femme fatale figure is reimagined, both revered and feared, seductive yet untouchable.

‘Reality Fantasy’ is just the beginning.
