Seattle’s Royal Blunder Drops ‘Only More is Enough’
Seattle’s Royal Blunder is the kind of band that just gets it…loud guitars, killer hooks, and a little bit of chaos to keep things interesting.
Their debut EP, ‘Only More is Enough,’ is packed with scrappy, melodic rock that pulls from power pop, garage stomp, and whatever else makes a song feel alive. Think The Kinks jamming with Elvis Costello, but in a basement with some busted amps.
Frontman Robert Cochran has been around the block (The Leroys, Daffodil Daydream, a bunch more), and he leans into the happy accidents of songwriting. “My primary gift is recognizing when I make a good mistake,” he says. The rest of the crew; bassist Bruce Watermann, guitarist Danny Wood, and drummer Neal Erickson, bring the muscle, with extra guitar and production magic from David Zaffiro. Even Rob’s kids are in on it, with his son Cullen playing organ and singing on ‘Sherlock Holmes,’ a song he wrote while visiting England.
The tracks bounce between high energy and carefully layered melodies, with ‘The Clock’ bringing big 60s vibes and the title track proving a tight pop song can still punch hard. “We ‘Blunderize’ Rob’s songs,” Bruce jokes, “which really comes through live.”

For now, they’re on a “world tour of Ballard,” but don’t be surprised if they show up in your town next. Or, you know, another planet.
