Electric Citizen Return with ‘Static Vision,’ the Hypnotic First Cut from ‘EC4’

After a seven-year stretch in the shadows, Cincinnati’s Electric Citizen roars back into the light with ‘Static Vision,’ the first taste of their long-awaited fourth album ‘EC4,’ out June 27 via Heavy Psych Sounds.

Built on fuzzed-out riff worship and the siren pull of Laura Dolan’s vocals, ‘Static Vision’ pulses with the urgency of a band reborn. It’s a lean, hypnotic burner—equal parts heady psychedelia and hard-charging rock ‘n’ roll—that reclaims the haunted mystique Electric Citizen has cultivated since their 2012 debut.

Crafted in the echo chamber of Candyland Studio with Mike Montgomery and John Hoffman, then fine-tuned by heavyweights Collin Dupuis (The Black Keys, Lana Del Rey) and JJ Golden (Ty Segall, Calexico), ‘EC4’ is no nostalgia trip. It’s Electric Citizen refined, recharged, and staring straight into the static with clear intent.

With artwork by Neil Krug—who returns after designing their 2014 debut ‘Sateen’—and a new home on Heavy Psych Sounds, the band is stepping out of the past and into something darker, sharper, and defiantly alive. ‘Static Vision’ is the sound of the coil tightening.

Electric Citizen is back. And they mean it.
