The Highest Order – If It’s Real (2013) review
The Highest Order “If It’s Real” (Idée Fixe Records, 2013)
Canada has been pretty lucky with having some essential
psychedelic country acts, from our greatest export Neil Young to our poster
boys The Sadies we have some bands/performers we can be really proud of. With
that being said I’d like to introduce you to one of the best new psychedelic
country bands to come out in forever, The Highest Order. Taking us back to the
days of female crooning ala Loretta Lynn this band throws in some pretty spacey
sounds to the twang. Think early Pink Floyd if they were a country band with a
female version of Syd Barrett. Country music hasn’t sounded this dreamy in
forever! I dare you to listen to this and not tap your foot! Also for further
listening seek out the other projects these guys/gals are associated with,
“100 Dollars, Fiver, Deloro”.
