Snapper – Snapper 12″ EP (2013) review
Snapper “Snapper” 12′ EP (Flying Nun & Captured
Tracks, 2013)
Tracks, 2013)
The sounds of New Zealand from the late 70s and throughout
the 80s and into the 90s have always been genre bending and essential for even
the most experienced music history major to not ignore. With that being said I
bring you Snapper, that features an ex member of the Clean and the Chills, a
future member of the 3Ds. While I wouldn’t be bold enough to call this a
supergroup I can tell you it is one of the best things I have discovered from
this scene that I love obsessively. Vibes of German Krautrock is dripping in
and out of every track. Perhaps a New Zealand take on NEU! or a precursor to
Stereolab? Either way this is amazing and a must for fans of Spectrum,
Broadcast, Deerhunter, the Clean and any organ driven psych rock band!
