‘Roach Song’ by Mortigi Tempo
Thundering fuzz, rolling baselines, and the ghostly howl of Cool, Mortigi Tempo’s new single ‘Roach Song’ is both the soundtrack for the apocalypse, and the answer for how to react.
With riffs reminiscent of our psychedelic forefathers, and voices echoing with the attitude of chill survival, they’ve written a song that oozes what it’s like to live in 2020.
From the howling wastes of the high desert comes Mortigi Tempo – the kind of sensual sonic hallucination you can really shake it to. Hailing from Salt Lake City, this neo-psychedelic trio features guitars that crunch and vocals that bite from Christopher Fallo; the thick, slithering basslines of Marc Leach; and Eric Watson’s hammering drum work, as steady and heavy as a brick wall. Founded in 2012 by Fallo and Leach, the group’s sound was shaped not only by the Lynchian exploits of their mountain home, but also the paradigms of glam rock, Brit rock, and desert rock.
Mortigi Tempo quickly grew a sizeable, devoted fanbase, self-released a full-length and two EPs and went on to score high profile gigs with Band Of Skulls, Demob Happy, and Bass Drum Of Death among others. From there it was a hop, skip, and a jump to festival spots at Denver’s Underground Music Showcase; WhatFest in Wyoming; and SLC’s own CrucialFest, all in 2019. And in 2020 the band shows no sign of slowing down. Keep your ears to the ground for Mortigi Tempo’s new tunes, new videos, and a whole lot more efforts on their mission to keep rock and roll alive and full of hot, coursing blood.
