—The Psychedelic Experience by Alpert, Leary, Metzner.
In 1966 Drs. Richard Alpert, Timothy Leary, and Ralph Metzner released The Psychedelic Experience, an album designed to be used as an audio guide for navigating the inner space of the bardo. “Bardo,” in this case, being Tibetan for the liminal space of consciousness between wakefulness and sleep—a hypnagogic state wherein the mind is untethered from the body and free to experience new ways of engaging in sensory experience.
‘Sounds from the Bardo’ is inspired by ‘The Psychedelic Experience’ LP in that it aims to provide a standalone album that can be used to explore the bardo. ‘Sounds from the Bardo’ also acts as a virtual, ‘packable’ compliment to the in-person Bardo Bath series Psychedelic Sangha has been hosting at Judson Memorial Church and HiFi Loft in NYC.
Listeners may experience the albums as they wish, choosing to guide their journey via in these original performances of light, sound and meditation.
Enter the psychedelic realm of the Misfit Seeker — welcome, friends.
