‘Uncut Divide’ by The Plutocrats

Exclusive stream of debut single ‘Uncut Divide’ by the Sydney-based Plutocrats.

A multi-phased psychedelic rock track whose introspective lyrics detail the fragility of relationships, while recognising the permanence of one’s relationship with oneself. In order to capture the band’s energy and interplay in a cohesive, raw package, the single was recorded live in a DIY studio in Marrickville, Sydney.

The Plutocrats is a Sydney-based band formed between four university students with widely diverse backgrounds, influences and artistic perspectives. America, Turkey, India, and Russia are the countries of origin of the four members, and aspects from each culture are present in the band’s sound and collective approach to their music.

‘Uncut Divide’ by Bora Selcuk and Nina Keese

The Plutocrats blend classic psychedelia with aspects of jazz, soul and funk; the diverse backgrounds of each band mate results in a wide range of musical influences present in the Plutocrats sound.

The Plutocrats by Asser Loufti

With melodic bass lines drawing inspiration from neo-soul and funk, blistering guitar tones, skittering synth lines and laid back drum grooves, the plutocrats apply fresh ideas to the tried and true sounds of psychedelic rock.
