‘Nunavut’ by Coral Benders | New Album, ‘Hydrothermal Jazz’
Exclusive video premiere of ‘Nunavut’ by DC’s Coral Benders. The track is fresh off their latest release.
Bringing out the first single ‘Nunavut’ off their dynamic, genre bending journey of an LP ‘Hydrothermal Jazz’.
Washington DC’s Coral Benders are set to release ‘Hydrothermal Jazz’, abandoning their traditional surf rock roots in the name of sonic and lyrical exploration. The album explores the concept of reconciliation with the unknown, with tracks that blast you through the astral fringe and deliver you back to Earth, bleached, yet renewed.
The band on the making of the visuals for ‘Nunavut’
“Life is going sideways for Zorb, a green chartreuse-drinkin’, clickbait news-addicted extraterrestrial whose only skillset seems to be shredding e-scooters around the neighborhood. That is, until his sexy, galactic counterpart Xenon arrives and the two wreck havoc and zap earthlings together on the stellar sands of their new home.”
“Nunavut is a song about crawling out of the cold abyss of a mundane world when you’ve got intergalactic ambition and a really sick starship. Sometimes it takes finding another freak of your kind to churn up your own solar system.”
Since their fuzz-soaked debut, the band has performed their infectious, high octane cosmic rippers in DC-area venues including the Black Cat, Rock and Roll Hotel, Songbyrd, Slash Run, and Metro Gallery. The group reached fried fish acclaim in early 2019 after recording a nautical concept album with Long John Silver’s Fish Yeah! Records—the world’s first record label created by a fast food restaurant. The group has shared a stage with bands such as Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Timothy Eerie, and Scott Yoder. The beach-adjacent psych garage rock outfit is composed of Brennan Duckett and Shawn Whites (guitar/vox), Jake Butler (bass/vox), Matt Ciferri (drums/vox), and Patrick Nease (keys/vox).
