‘and i look to you?’ , the latest album from Edmonton, CA based band Archaics, is far from your typical rock record. Opening a sonic space of blissful intentionality, orchestral arrangements ebb alongside a playful backbone of guitars, bass and drums.
The song structures allow a rhythmic grace with nods to Motown, while maintaining a semblance of the discordant art-rock of the album prior.
Within this tapestry of divergent influences the lyrics reflect, in both certain and uncertain terms, attempts to understand where one may fit into their society and the challenges of doing so intentionally.
