Keys sings with fire and passion as so much energy pours out of her vocals that it is an incredible thing to experience. The rest of the track seemingly orbits around her. Perfectly sculpted and shaped with a party atmosphere in mind, the song has a vibrancy to it. One of the best elements of this intensity comes from the production values which deftly highlight the sheer strength of her delivery. This, paired with the positive outlook of her lyricism itself, makes the track so warm and inviting. On the songs, Keys showcases her vocals strongly as they serve as one of the main focal points. Virtually anchoring it all down, the vocals nicely flow the lead of the music itself, adding and removing itself as needed.

Like a long-lost pop classic comes the golden hued essence of the song. Catchy to its core the song is infectious and is complete with symphonic bursts.

Was it a premonition? Or a telling into the future? I had written my song ‘Head Up’ at the very beginning of 2020, not knowing I would need it’s message now more than ever. I was told by a producer that none of my songs were ‘Catchy’ enough to record on an album. Knowing this was untrue- my snarky self wrote this tune with the intention of having people sing along. As I finished writing it I soon realized that not only was it ‘Catchy’ but the message was needed. What started as a rebuttal to a challenge soon became one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written. It’s ok and quite normal to have dark times and feelings of depression. I wanted this song to be a reminder during these times to “Please keep your head up.” Talia Keys
