‘The Way You Shatter’ by Dewey Defeats Truman | Album Release

Dewey Defeats Truman is sharing their new EP, ‘The Way You Shatter’, out today via Silver Girl Records on 12″ clear vinyl + digital.

Gritty, old-school guitar-driven indie rock from San Diego, CA. In the early ’00’s, the band recorded and toured for several years, then went on hiatus. In 2019, the band reformed upon request for two reunion shows celebrating 30 years of local radio station 91x and legendary local rock club the Casbah. Now again active, the band has been writing new material for release on Silver Girl Records.

“The mid 90’s were the golden age of indie rock, and with this EP, we wanted to bring that sound back – or even better, to a new, young audience that may have missed it the first time around. Sebadoh, Versus, Superchunk, it’s not a mistake that they are all touring again; people are hungry for that sound. Those are bands that propelled the movement. Dewey Defeats Truman is a band that hints at elements of them while still sounding uniquely our own. I think ‘The Way You Shatter’ proves that”. – James Reader (DDT bassist/vocalist)

Following a long hiatus, San Diego’s Dewey Defeats Truman reformed and began writing and recording. For many who can remember, the band released records and toured regularly in the early 2000’s, including opening for Archers of Loaf, Jesus Lizard, Jimmy Eat World, Kelley Deal, and at music festivals such as NXNW in Portland, SXSW in Austin, and CMJ in New York City.

Recently, the band reformed and returned with their mastery of catchy, driving indie rock – as if no time had passed. ‘The Way You Shatter’ is their first studio recording in 20 years.
