‘Tropical Song’ by Gionatan Scali
Exclusive video premiere of ‘Tropical Song’ by Gionatan Scali, taken from the ‘Ride On’ album.
Gionatan Scali drops another video, this time marinated in the salts of the heavily crowded beaches of Barcelona. Long time collaborator of the band Macari de Golferichs directed the video. This is the first footage we see from their latest album ‘Ride On’ and it’s quite a trip.
Remember when you woke up from that terrible nap on the beach feeling dangerously sunburned, mildly dehydrated and vaguely recollecting a bizarre dream sequence that you couldn’t shake for a week? Right there, somewhere between the collective consciousness and the physical world is where the video for ‘Tropical Song’ inhabits. The second you drop your eyes on these “not so cursed” images, you feel complicit in this warm and voyeuristic feast of human emotions. This compilation of images unapologetically puts the viewer in a delicate position. Do you feel bad when you sneak into your friend’s camera roll? Or do you go straight to their last trip to the Mediterranean for the good stuff?
Full of stylistic choices like a visceral graphic design by the Barcelona-based design duo Tot per res or a heavily saturated colour palette. This is a close encounter with all the little moments constantly happening around us where the beauty of life expresses itself in full swing. An encounter so close you can almost get burned.
