‘Love Is A Wire’ by Chillemi | New Album, ‘Vacant Cowboy’
Exclusive track premiere of ‘Love Is A Wire,’ by NYC based dark grit gothic western Chillemi, taken from his upcoming album, ‘Vacant Cowboy,’ out 2023 via Taxi Gauche Records.
‘Love Is A Wire’ is a song about the dangers of love and the thin line we walk in pursuit of it. Chillemi says: “My new single is a bridge between the debut album ‘With Woman’ and my new record ‘Vacant Cowboy’ out next year. ‘With Woman’ was written when I was falling in love and ‘Vacant Cowboy’ is the breakup album – ‘Love Is A Wire’ is the line right between.”
“I wrote this song initially as a duet for a female artist friend, but timing didn’t allow so I ended up seeing it through” says Brian Chillemi. Recorded in an evening this past summer at Gary’s Electric in Greenpoint, Brooklyn by Robert Aceto with wurlitzer piano and guitar overdubs done at Chillemi’s home studio. “It’s a mix of my home recording style with the power and clarity of a top-level studio,” says Brian Chillemi. With labelmate and longtime collaborator Alex Fippinger (Mary Vision, Rose Cologne) on drums and Jimy SeiTang on bass the trio carve out a groove that is both dark and bouncy with plenty of shadows being cast.
Singing with an enigmatic allure, Chillemi’s style paints with broad strokes of cinematic themes. The solo project of Brian Chillemi (Rose Cologne, Junk Boys), his debut album ‘With Woman’ was released in April 2021 on Zurich based Taxi Gauche Records. After moving to Los Angeles from his native home of New York City just months before the pandemic, Chillemi has recently returned to Manhattan to put the finishing touches on his sophomore album.
