‘The Last Survivors on Planet Earth’ by Astral Magic | Album Premiere
Exclusive album premiere of ‘The Last Survivors on Planet Earth’ by Astral Magic, out now.
‘The Last Survivors on Planet Earth’ is the 28th album by psychedelic and spacey Finnish project Astral Magic, if you also count the compilations. That’s an insane number, considering that the project was started by ex-Dark Sun bassist, backing vocalist and Moog player Santtu Laakso just in March 2020. With a growing international collaborator group, the music has varied from heavy space rock to progressive psych rock, experimental, cosmic and electronic music.
On the new album, the emphasis has been on writing great songs with tasty melodies. There are even some pop vibes there somewhere, but the music still rocks hard and gets you in the zone. There are tons of synthesizers, driving bass and drums, varied guitar tones and layered vocals. This time the collaborators are Jonathan Segel (guitar, electric sitar), Alisa Coral (synths) and Shane Beck (spoken word).
There is a certain apocalyptic theme on the 55-minute album, but not totally without a seed of hope for humanity and our universe. The main point is that most answers are to be found from within ourselves.
You can get the limited-edition CD in a cool and trippy digipack only from the Astral Magic Bandcamp site.
