‘Mr. Neckofthewoods’ by Prosthetic Bung | Album Premiere
Exclusive album premiere of ‘Mr. Neckofthewoods’ by Toronto-based noise rockers Prosthetic Bung, out June 30th, 2023.
‘Mr. Neckofthewoods’ is the upcoming experimental album by the duo of Steff and Zach full of improvising chaotic psych, punk and noise. The album will be available on limited edition CD and cassette tape release.
How did you first get interested in music and what are some of the early influences that inspired you enough to start a music project?
Steff: Music has always been interesting, which I suppose began as fetuses experiencing sounds, before we could experience much of anything else in this world. We were inspired to start a music project because we like having fun with sounds.
Were you part of any bands before forming Prosthetic Bung?
Steff: Before Prosthetic Bung, we were in no bands but also in several bands.
How did you two first meet and what was the initial concept behind the band?
Steff: We met roughly a couple of decades ago, so…who knows? The initial concept of the band was to lack an obvious concept — which, of course, we mustn’t stick to, or it would become a real concept.
What was the recording process like for your upcoming album?
Steff: The process of recording ‘Mr. Neckofthewoods’ was quite loud, glorious, and educational. Who knew you could play a kazoo with your feet?!
Would love it if you could share some words about ‘The Quest for the Golden Bung’?
Steff: ‘The Quest for the Golden Bung’ is a bewildering story full of suspense and wonder.
What’s the deal with ‘Futureless Throb: Live In Japan, 1983’?
Steff: ‘Futureless Throb: Live in Japan, 1983’ was a deal with The Hills Are Dead Records, who were so brilliant as to also include our first short album ‘Hey Baby, It’s…Prosthetic Bung!’ on the released CD and cassette.
What else currently occupies your life and what are some future plans for you?
Steff: We are occupied by being amazing and we plan to continue.
