‘Tar Pits’ by Ursa Major Revelation | New EP, ‘Big Baby’ EP
Exclusive video premiere of ‘Tar Pits’ by Ursa Major Revelation, taken from the upcoming EP, ‘Big Baby,’ out October 17th.
Ursa Major Revelation (helmed by songwriter/vocalist Ursula Rose and guitarist Dylan Rau of Bear Hands) make their official debut with the announcement of their debut EP, ‘Big Baby,’ and celebrate the project with its first single drop, ‘Tar Pits,’ alongside an accompanying self-directed video.
As Ursula explained: “‘Tar Pits’ is a story about falling in love with someone who is trying to escape a 10 year long heroin addiction. It’s about being obsessed with their health and safety at all times. It’s about needing to be their savior. My biggest takeaway from that experience is that junkies deserve love too, as do I, and as do you.”
On the forthcoming EP, she continued: “By the time I turned 30, I had a major revelation. I looked back on my life and saw a map. My life was a map of the men I have loved. Some of them were pretty cool, others less so. I let the map guide me through the creation of three songs, one for each of the major loves of my life. Dylan Rau made these instrumentals in various west coast closets and I wrote most of the vocals at an Airbnb in Joshua Tree. Additional recording was completed at a fishing cabin on the Oregon Coast. The songs feature production and mixing from dear friend and colleague Chris Chu (The Morning Benders, Pop ETC). Original artwork for each single by my grandmother Sara January Price.
