Baby Fire Announce New EP, ‘A Year of Grace’
‘A Year of Grace’ is the new EP by Belgian band Baby Fire. It completes the grace trilogy started by the four-track EP ‘Searching for Grace’ in 2020 and the album ‘Grace’ in 2022.
‘A Year of Grace’ consists of three remixes from the album, one previously unreleased track (‘Like Stars’) and title track ‘A Year of Grace’.
These last two tracks describe the painful mental journey of Dominique Van Cappellen-Waldock – Baby Fire’s originator – among the post-covid music rubble, in which it has become virtually impossible to be heard. We embark on a trip which evokes the illusion of a renewed artistic scene and the disappointment brought on by a remarkably conservative environment, which leads to weariness.
‘A Year of Grace’ will be released on cassette and digital formats only on October 13 by French label Coeur sur toi.
The stunning teaser featuring Dominique Van Cappellen-Waldock was directed by Amanita Noir.
Emerging from the back alleys of the Brussels alternative rock scene, Baby Fire is a trio defined by a rock style which is full of rage, haunted, powerful and refined.
In the past, Baby Fire has worked with ex-Buzzcocks member Tony Barber, who produced their second studio recording at Dial House, Crass’ former headquarters. The band has also collaborated with Eve Libertine and Penny Rimbaud (Crass), Eugene Robinson (Oxbow) and Dana Schechter (Insect Ark, Swans…).
‘A Year of Grace’ comprises two original tracks produced by Déhà, and three remixes by Déhà of recordings made by Raphaël Rastelli for the ‘Grace’ album (released in the spring of 2022 through Off Records).
