Blue Öyster Cult | August 28 | Media Center | Ljubljana, Slovenia
Blue Öyster Cult originally formed on Long Island in Stony Brook, New York, in 1967 and became one of the biggest rock bands during the 70s with numerous hit singles under their belt.
Fronted by original members Eric Bloom and Buck Dharma for 51 years, Blue Öyster Cult has a cult following, not least because of the use of the word “Cult” in their name. Musically, they have already been defined as heavy metal, psychedelic rock, occult rock, biker boogie, acid rock and progressive rock. Among other things, they were also named as one of the pioneers of stoner metal.
As an influential group on their music, they were named by quite a few modern groups: Iron Maiden, Metallica, Alice in Chains, HIM, Turbonegro, The Cult, Queens of the Stone Age, Twisted Sister, Steel Panther, Green River (later Mudhoney), Body Count, Possessed, Candlemass, Saint Vitus, Trouble, Opeth, White Zombie, Kvelertak, Fates Warning, Iced Earth,… They have undoubtedly left their mark on rock music.
The legacy of Blue Öyster Cult is huge and it’s rare to see such a group here. After 50 years of concerts, the band has considerably limited their live performances, so that in 2023 they will perform only two concerts in Europe, one in Ljubljana! Reserve the date – August 28 in the new Media Center hall at Cvetličarna!
