DrogulA | Interview | “Occultist touches of necropsycodelia”
DrogulA are a new doom metal duo hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina. The band’s sound is rooted in Sabbathian riffs and a touch of psychedelia with lyrics and sampling alluding to occult imagery and themes.
Dark and heavy sounds for fans of Mephistofeles, Los Natas, and the mighty Electric Wizard. DrogulA recently released their debut EP on 10″ vinyl through Herby Records in Austin, Texas.

“Occultist touches of necropsycodelia”
Who are the members of the band and where are you from?
Nicolas Casabona: I’m on guitar/vocals and Marcelo Soria on drums. We are a duo from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
How was the band initially formed?
Marcelo was a regular customer in the bar where I worked. So, we met there and we started playing music together in March 2023.
What are your influences musically and aesthetically?
Many influences. Musically, Black Sabbath mostly, Pentagram, Deep Purple, and a lot of punk bands. The Misfits – love their aesthetic. The Cramps, Joy Division, stoner and garage doom bands such as Electric Wizard, Kyuss, Fu Manchu, QOTSA, Danzig, Type O Negative… and from here in Argentina, our big influence, Los Natas.
What is the music and/or stoner/doom scene like in Argentina?
A constantly active moving and growing music scene. We love Mephistofeles, a great heavy metal band. They kick ass!

Do you play live shows and if so, what kind of venues?
DrogulA hasn’t wanted to play live yet… waiting for the day to start.
Tell us about your new EP.
Our first new EP showcases our style of stoner doom metal with occultist touches of necropsycodelia.

Could you tell us a little something about each track on the album?
It starts with ‘Borneo’ a slow tune to begin the journey, then mighty ‘Kaliyuga’ to shake your head. ‘Mundo Criminal,’ the third track, keeps the evil ride going. ‘Padre Karras’ is our favorite – very Black Sabbath influenced. Finally, ‘Necromancer,’ another slow and very Sabbath influenced one too – we cannot deny it! They are Mecca for us…
How can fans get a copy of the 10” record?
Our first 10’’ EP is out now through Herby Records from Austin, Texas. Available at Herbyrecords.bandcamp.com
Do you have any upcoming plans playing shows, recording, or releasing more physical media?
Yes, we are preparing ‘Volume 2’… Ready to start recording at the end of this month of October.
