‘Motor Rhythm, Wooden’ by Dan Rincon | New Album, ‘Spotlight City’

Exclusive track premiere of ‘Motor Rhythm, Wooden’ by Dan Rincon, taken from the upcoming album, ‘Spotlight City,’ out May 3, 2024 via Castle Face Records.

Last month, Dan Rincon, the longtime drummer of the legendary psych-rock band OSEES, announced his debut solo album, ‘Spotlight City,’ set to be released on May 3rd via Castle Face Records. He also unveiled the album’s first single. Today, Rincon returns with the second single from the upcoming LP, titled ‘Motor Rhythm, Wooden,’ which is characterized by its upbeat electro-orchestral vibe.

Rincon explained that the track is dedicated to physical modeling synthesis, a method that utilizes mathematical models to replicate the physical characteristics of acoustic instruments. In ‘Motor Rhythm, Wooden,’ electro-acoustic elements blend to create a dynamic mix of clinks, clangs, chugs, and churns, evoking a sense of motorized energy.

The single is now available on all digital streaming platforms, and the complete ‘Spotlight City’ album is scheduled for release on May 5th via Castle Face Records.

In this album, Rincon crafts artificial landscapes and melodies using a Moog Grandmother, Mellotron, and a tantalizing Modular system, traversing realms from serene to eerie. The journey to creating this musical tapestry was a labor of love, involving years of learning and harmonizing various components. Strings soar and sines weave, whether amidst ethereal atmospheres, deep within the Earth’s core, or amidst neon-lit blurs reminiscent of vintage sci-fi pulp.

Rincon draws inspiration from solo Roedelius and Conrad Schnitzler records, aiming to emulate their transformation of chaotic electronic music into melodic beauty. For enthusiasts of Castle Face, OSEES, Popol Vuh soundtracks, 8-bit video game accompaniments, and 80s Tangerine Dream, this album is an essential addition to the collection.

Stay tuned for the limited pressing release—immerse yourself, and let the music take you on a journey.
