‘Tears from Space’ by Bear Of Bombay | New Album, ‘PsychoDreamElectroGaze’
Italian multi-instrumentalist Lorenzo Parisini, widely known as Bear Of Bombay, just dropped his latest single, ‘Tears from Space,’ the first glimpse into his upcoming album ‘PsychoDreamElectroGaze,’ slated for release in September 2024.
Bear Of Bombay is the brainchild of the Milan-based musician, whose sonic universe is a captivating mix of kosmische beats and vibrant bursts of melody. He debuted in 2021 with the EP ‘Something Stranger,’ blending elements of psych, krautrock, synthpop, and post-punk into a uniquely personal sound. The EP garnered international acclaim and substantial radio play across Europe, the US, and Canada, particularly with the single ‘The Storm.’
‘Tears from Space’ leads the way for the new album, taking listeners on a hypnotic journey filled with synths, sequencers, rhythmic loops, noise guitars, and atmospheric vocal lines. The track feels like a cosmic voyage, where you’re drawn into a boundless soundscape, as if in search of an elusive dimension.
The song is a compelling blend of krautrock, electronica, and psychedelia, enhanced by a collaboration with Mario Lo Faro from the Catanian band Clustersun, whose shoegaze and post-punk-infused guitar layers add depth to the mix.
Bear Of Bombay produced and recorded the track, with co-production and additional recording by Francesco Campanozzi at Casamedusa Studios in Milan. The final mixing and mastering were handled by James Aparicio, a London-based producer known for his work with Spiritualized, Mogwai, Depeche Mode, Liars, and Nick Cave.
The music video for ‘Tears from Space’ comes from Milanese visual artist Antonello Raggi, who visually captures the song’s syncopated rhythm with a technique from the 1980s using “video feedback and light art performance.” The video has a trippy vibe, almost as if guiding viewers through a hypnotic search for a mysterious color, both inside and outside the music’s dimension.
If ‘Tears from Space’ is any indication, ‘PsychoDreamElectroGaze’ promises to be a mesmerizing blend of the ethereal and the experimental. Keep an eye out for its release in September 2024.
