‘Dreamers’ by Dude Cervantes

‘Dreamers’ is a shot of guitar laced adrenaline and a glimpse into the live bombast of Dude Cervantes and The Panchos.

With a nod to classic MTV alternative and grunge music videos of the 90’s, ‘Dreamers’ is the title track from the 2023 sophomore release by Dude Cervantes and features live footage captured throughout the year with his solo group The Panchos. “We managed to squeeze in shows during a pretty heavy year of North American tours with Mrs. Henry and Chest Fever. The Panchos is a classic barebones 4 piece muscle band. This is channeling Crazy Horse and The Pixies, with twin lead guitars peeling the paint off the walls in contrast to the tight vocal harmonies and double keyboards I was touring with a la The Band. Amps dimed, fuzz screaming, heads banging and floor wedges blasting. I always loved tearing a hole in the sky with Ethan Miller during my tenure with Howlin Rain, lots of extended six-string freak outs and heavy psych dives into heady roots. It has been a joy to reprise that whisper to a scream with The Panchos, focusing on my own personal songwriting and guitar playing while getting to trade licks with Dylan Donovan of Sacri Monti, one of the tastiest raw guitar players in the guitar playing universe, and backed by a primal powerhouse rhythm section of Justin De La Vega on Drums (Warish/Zach Oakley/Kimmi Bitter) and Ryan Grenda on Bass. We really captured some lightning in the bottle on stage in 2023.”

Audiences know Daniel Cervantes as the San Diego, CA based musician whose interstellar electric guitar ignites bands like Mrs. Henry, Chest Fever, Howlin’ Rain, and Creature And The Woods. Lauded by print outlets including Rolling Stone, Relix Magazine, UnCut, And Mojo, NBC Channel 7 summed it up with these words: “What can’t this guy play? He oozes Rock & Roll swagger and few use it better.” A multi-hyphenate musician, bandleader, singer-songwriter, record producer, label owner, and solo recording artist as Dude Cervantes, he navigates an ever-shifting orbit of sonic exploration. As the originator of the indie record label Blind Owl, he advances an Iconoclastic collective of authentic artists ranging from punk rock legend Zander Schloss of The Circle Jerks to poet/author Noah C. Lekas, whose collaborative work on Saturday Night Sage (produced by Cervantes), earned praise from Rolling Stone Magazine’s Senior Editor David Fricke calling it “Poetry And Psychedelia, as if Tom Waits had hitched a ride on The Jefferson Airplane’s version Of ‘Wooden Ships.” Fans can expect a new wave of releases in 2024 including a rip roaring live album with The Panchos, and the much anticipated rock opera release this summer of Keep On Rising. Available July 5th on Blind Owl Records.
