Michele Ducci, former M+A and Santii member, covers GregoryBeBad’s ‘I May Look Tuff,’ following his solo debut “SIVE.”
Following the release of his debut solo album ‘SIVE,’ former M+A and Santii member Michele Ducci has unveiled a cover of GregoryBeBad’s ‘I May Look Tuff,’ co-written by Gregory Josephs and Simon Milner of Is Tropical.
Ducci reimagines the hip-hop original as a piano ballad, featuring a bright “ah-ah-ah” refrain by backing vocalist Letizia Mandolesi. The song’s themes of heartbreak and loneliness are highlighted in its wistful chorus:
“I may look tuff by my skin’s not leather
I haven’t had a hug in forever
My sighs don’t help me out in cold weather
But when I’m with you, it feels like it’s June and I wear my heart on short sleeves.”
Ducci reflects, “I met Simon Milner when I was in M+A and we opened for Is Tropical. I love Simon’s writing, especially his work with Corpus Milner. He’s one of the few musicians I’d love to collaborate with. When I heard this song with GregoryBeBad, I knew I wanted to make a variation. It’s a wonderful song that feels like June.”
The single is available on all digital platforms and Bandcamp. Ducci’s album launch show is this Friday at Magazzino Arti Sceniche in Bologna, Italy.
‘SIVE’ is out now and can be purchased here.
