‘No Time To Dream’ by Burr Oak | New EP, ‘Annabelle’
Exclusive track premiere of ‘No Time To Dream’ by Chicago-based 4-piece Burr Oak, taken from the upcoming EP, ‘Annabelle,’ due September 20, 2024.
Burr Oak explains “This track outlines and emphasis how ‘Annabelle’ spirals down into a deep, dark depression after she gives birth to her baby. Otherwise known as a serious postpartum depression. As the lyrics go, She has “no time to read, no time to sleep, and no time to dream.” All of her time is taken up by taking care of her newborn without any help. She feels lost and hopeless. She contemplates what life would be like if she ended things. The only thing keeping her going is the will to survive for her baby.”
Chicago-based singer/songwriter Savanna Dickhut started Burr Oak as a personal project to express her emotions through music, beginning with her first single ‘Southsider’ after a tough breakup. Songwriting provided her strength and a way to share her feelings. Her band, launched in 2019, blends brutally honest lyrics with an Americana folk/rock sound, praised for its authenticity.
When the pandemic canceled her touring plans, she focused on completing her debut album, ‘Late Bloomer,’ which explores themes of anxiety, depression, and personal growth. Released in 2021, it was well-received for its relatable and direct lyrics.
Now a four-piece band, Burr Oak is set to release a 5-song EP titled ‘Annabelle’ in late summer 2024, featuring the track ‘Rainclouds.’ This EP tells the story of ‘Annabelle’ and Adam, exploring themes of love, loss, and resilience, inspired by the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
