‘Annabelle’ by Burr Oak | New EP, ‘Annabelle’

Exclusive track premiere of ‘Annabelle’ by the Chicago-based four-piece Burr Oak, taken from their upcoming EP ‘Annabelle,’ due September 20, 2024.

Burr Oak explains “She had a baby, Annabelle. With no money, family to reach out to for help or access to abortion resources, twenty-three-year-old Annabelle is left with no choice other than to have the baby and raise the child without the help of her ex-boyfriend, Adam. Alone, overwhelmed and having to care for a newborn day and night, Annabelle slips deep into postpartum depression.”

Chicago-based singer/songwriter Savanna Dickhut started Burr Oak as a personal project to express her emotions through music, beginning with her first single ‘Southsider’ after a tough breakup. Songwriting provided her strength and a way to share her feelings. Her band, launched in 2019, blends brutally honest lyrics with an Americana folk/rock sound, praised for its authenticity.

When the pandemic canceled her touring plans, she focused on completing her debut album, ‘Late Bloomer,’ which explores themes of anxiety, depression, and personal growth. Released in 2021, it was well-received for its relatable and direct lyrics.

Now a four-piece band, Burr Oak is set to release a 5-song EP titled ‘Annabelle’ in late summer 2024, featuring the track ‘Rainclouds.’ This EP tells the story of ‘Annabelle’ and Adam, exploring themes of love, loss, and resilience, inspired by the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
