‘It’s Hard to be Easily Loved’ by Michele Ducci
Following the release of his debut solo album, ‘SIVE,’ earlier this year, Michele Ducci has been back in the studio exploring new dimensions.
Known for his work in the dance-pop duo M+A and hip-hop project Santii, Ducci has been revisiting tracks from ‘SIVE’ with live reinterpretations while also crafting new songs. Among these fresh creations is his latest single, ‘It’s Hard to Be Easily Loved,’ out today, November 18th, accompanied by a captivating live video performance.
The video showcases Ducci performing against a dreamy backdrop of watercolor paintings created by himself and artist Letizia Mandolesi, adding a visual layer of intimacy to the song.
‘It’s Hard to Be Easily Loved’ unfolds like a quiet embrace. Ducci’s tender vocals and the delicate plucking of a nylon-string guitar provide an understated yet deeply moving foundation. The warmth intensifies in the chorus, where Mandolesi’s ethereal vocal harmonies add a soft, haunting glow. It’s a contemplative gem that exemplifies Ducci’s ability to craft music that feels both personal and timeless.
“I was improvising with the nylon guitar while it was raining and slowly It’s Hard to Be Easily Loved began to form,” Ducci explains. “It’s the first song among other unpublished songs that I’m doing live and that will be released at the beginning of next year.
Being loved or understood, at times, seems to work like those strange crossings that are the changes of the season, or like falling asleep. It can be very difficult and seems to happen, if it happens and when it happens, out of time. So every expectation appears to be a useless expense. A nylon and paw-legged organ song came out of it that reminds me of the yellow fog that makes the paraeidoly of a cat in the poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by Eliot:
‘Slipped by the terrace, made a sudden leap,
And seeing that it was a soft October night,
Curled once about the house, and fell asleep.’”
Ducci’s reflective storytelling and poetic sensibilities continue to resonate in his live performances. Fans in Italy can catch him live on November 27th at Germi in Milan and November 29th at Efesto House in Bologna.
