Magic Machine Unleashes New Double Single ‘Pieces Of My Brain / Darling’ and Hits the Road for East Coast Tour
Sydney/Dharawal rock ‘n’ rollers Magic Machine are back with a brand-new double single, ‘Pieces Of My Brain’ / ‘Darling,’ and an East Coast tour to match.
Known for their blistering live shows and three albums of heavy, fuzzed-out psych-rock, this four-piece keeps the DIY ethos alive with homegrown recordings that capture a raw edge.
The A-side, ‘Pieces Of My Brain,’ sees Magic Machine lean into 60s garage rock, blending reverb-drenched guitars and pounding rhythms for a track that feels like a summer road trip through a trippy desert. It’s bold, it’s catchy, and it’s all about rolling with life’s chaos: “I lost my mind, I lost my way, picking up pieces of my brain.” Its laid-back, surfy energy brings echoes of Link Wray and The Ventures, and the DIY Super 8 music video—pieced together from the band’s family archives—further captures that nostalgic, psychedelic vibe.
On the flip side, ‘Darling’ trades the grit for a more downbeat, dreamy feel, invoking a touch of Phil Spector’s classic spacious sound. It’s a moody B-side that’ll linger in your head, capturing the vintage essence of Magic Machine’s evolving sound.
Starting November 14th, catch Magic Machine on tour with Magic Prairie (aka Zia McCabe of The Dandy Warhols), who’ll join the band for a powerful lineup stretching from Byron Bay to Melbourne.
