‘MMXXIV’ by Cenobium | EP Stream
Exclusive EP stream: Avant-jazz collective Cenobium, led by bassist Andrea Lombardini (Buñuel, The Framers), will release their debut EP ‘MMXXIV’ on November 15 via new label Hodie Files.
Rooted in the concept of “cenobium” (a communal monastic life), Cenobium explores Afro-American and European music traditions, blending influences from Monk, Ornette Coleman, PJ Harvey, and Radiohead. Their approach results in an organic fusion of jazz, alternative rock, and experimental styles.
Lombardini describes the project as “a liberating experience,” with the young lineup—Edoardo Cian (guitar/vocals), Giulio Jesi (saxophone), and Francesco De Tuoni (drums)—bringing diverse influences and boundless creativity to the mix.
The album, recorded in Italy and featuring original compositions plus covers of Joe Henderson’s ‘Afro-Centric’ and PJ Harvey’s ‘Missed,’ promises a fresh, genre-blending soundscape.
