‘Ridley & Me After The Apocalypse’ by The Armoires | New Album, ‘Octoberland’

Exclusive video premiere of ‘Ridley & Me After The Apocalypse’ by The Armoires, taken from the latest album, ‘Octoberland,’ released on Big Stir Records.

Southern California indie pop band The Armoires have released a unique mixed-media video for their latest single, ‘Ridley & Me After The Apocalypse,’ from their album ‘Octoberland.’ This video, following the visual style of prior releases ‘We Absolutely Mean It’ and ‘Here Comes The Song,’ combines live action with illustrations crafted by Ridley Broome, who also appears in the video as an artist drawing scenes from the song’s post-apocalyptic narrative.

Christina Bulbenko, vocalist and keyboardist, explains, “It’s a story within a story—a playful take on a post-apocalyptic world imagined by Rex (guitar/vocals) and his daughter, Ridley.” Animator Andrew Edwards brought Ridley’s concept art to life with inventive storyboards, adding layers of charm to the live-action scenes filmed by cinematographer Michael Bulbenko. Rex describes the video as a “microcosm” of the album’s layered themes, offering both visual enjoyment and a deeper narrative for fans to explore.

‘Ridley & Me’ is a genuinely funny meta-narrative that assembles a genre-trope-inspired “found family” to fight for the future of “the Artistocracy”. Collaboration is a heart-and-soul passion for The Armoires – when they proclaim “this is not a single point of view, this is a collective” on ‘We Absolutely Mean It,’ for all the song’s tongue in cheek absurdity, it’s utterly sincere. They do, in fact, absolutely mean it.
