‘Seul au cinéma’ by We Are Wolves | New Album, ‘NADA’

Exclusive track premiere of ‘Seul au cinéma’ by We Are Wolves featuring Oliver Ackermann, from their upcoming album ‘NADA,’ out November 8 via Simone Records.

Indie rock duo We Are Wolves, made up of Alexander Ortiz and Vincent Levesque, will drop ‘NADA,’ their first full-length since 2019—and this one is major. The band is calling ‘NADA’ their “sixth and final album,” and for good reason. They’ve crafted a “decades- and continents-straddling mixtape” that digs into themes of “confusion and alienation” but wraps it all in “masterful pop craftsmanship.” If you’re bracing for a bold sonic journey, you’re in the right place.

The record’s a tapestry of styles, mixing up “synth rock, garage rock, cold wave, post punk, tropical psych, and 90’s alt-rock,” brought together through a series of dynamic collaborations. They tapped into the gritty genius of “noise-master Oliver Ackermann of A Place To Bury Strangers,” worked alongside producer Odin Parada while in Mexico, and kept things close to the core with sessions in Alex and Vincent’s own studio.

One highlight track, “Seul au cinéma,” stands out as a testament to their chemistry with Ackermann. Born from an off-the-cuff improv jam “between two songs at the Death By Audio studio in New York,” the track encapsulates that signature Ackermann touch—a textured, synth-laden sound that channels a Cure-esque energy. The band’s love for this track is clear: “The unique atmosphere—slightly dark yet romantic—combined with the rich, somewhat lo-fi texture, makes this song one of our favorites on the album.”

This new album, presented by the band’s longtime label Simone Records, was produced by the band themselves, and recorded in several places: at Death By Audio NYC with noise-master Oliver Ackermann of A Place To Bury Strangers; with esteemed producer Odin Parada while exiled in Mexico; and by Vincent and Alex in their studio. It was mixed in Montreal by engineer Adrian Popovich (SUUNS, DFA1979, Duchess Says).
