Turtle Skull Premieres New Single ‘Apathy’
Exclusive video premiere of ‘Apathy,’ from Turtle Skull’s upcoming album, set for a mid-2025 release on Art As Catharsis Records.
Australia’s Turtle Skull is back, and they’re dropping a fiery new anthem, ‘Apathy,’ that speaks straight to the digital fatigue plaguing our days. This track is packed with raw power, aimed squarely at snapping us out of the glazed-over screens and reminding us to actually live in the moment.
“Apathy is about how social media has diluted our collective empathy,” says drummer and vocalist Charlie Gradon, who also took the reins on mixing. “It’s meant to be upbeat, bombastic, in your face, full of fuzz. We went all in on the harmonies and the big chorus. Lyrically, it’s a brutal reminder to myself to live right now.”
True to form, ‘Apathy’ is a full-bodied experience, layered with that thick, satisfying fuzz and the harmonies Turtle Skull fans know and love. With its hypnotic hooks and grounded feel, the single captures the warmth of classic psych rock without getting too polished or fancy — just music you feel in your bones.
Since 2017, this east coast crew has been feeding our souls with an intense blend of melody and grit, hitting us with riffs and beats that feel both heavy and somehow uplifting. Turtle Skull’s last record, ‘Monoliths’ (2020), hit #1 on Australia’s AIR Independent Albums chart and brought them global attention, with shoutouts from major players and packed-out shows in Sydney and Melbourne. They’ve played alongside bands like Frankie and the Witch Fingers and Earthless, earning their place on stages from The Gumball to Vivid.
