‘heat & fury’ by Night Collectors | Psychedelic Drones and the Sound of Rebirth
Forged in the fog-drenched sprawl of the San Francisco Bay Area, Night Collectors emerged with a sound that distills psychedelic drone, rock & roll, and modal blues into something both smudged and sharp-edged.
They are always searching, always reaching for transcendence. Their live shows are a full-immersion experience, a dream of searing volume and stroboscopic light, designed to induce a state of hypno-narcosis.
Their debut album, ‘heat & fury,’ came together in fragments, its creation stretched across the turbulence of recent years. Initial sessions began at Oakland’s revered Tiny Telephone studios in February 2020, but as the world ground to a halt, so did the band’s momentum. With only a handful of tracks in the can and no clear path forward, they opted to issue two songs as a 7” single via Debacle Records. When the fog of uncertainty finally lifted, Night Collectors reconvened in 2022/2023 to finish what they had started.
Now, after years of anticipation, ‘heat & fury sees’ the light of day delivered through Aagoo Records (USA) and Cardinal Fuzz (UK).
