Deb Googe and Cara Tivey—names that have graced some of the finest records of the past few decades. From My Bloody Valentine to Billy Bragg, Primal Scream to Blur, their fingerprints are everywhere. But somehow, until now, never on an album of their own.
‘The Golden Thread’ is a collaboration decades in the making. Googe, of course, carved out her legend in My Bloody Valentine, later lending her talents to Primal Scream, Thurston Moore, and Snowpony alongside Stereolab’s Katharine Gifford. Tivey, best known for her work with Billy Bragg, has graced records by Blur, Everything But The Girl, and the ever-magnificent Robert Lloyd. Now, the two have holed up in Deb’s home studio and emerged with something quite unlike anything else.
And there’s more to come—live shows are planned across the UK and Europe throughout 2025. A long-overdue moment in the spotlight for two musicians who’ve quietly shaped so much of what we love.
