Sopa Boba’s exclusive album premiere, That Moment, which features Pavel Tchikov (Ogives) and G.W. Sok (The Ex, Oiseaux-Tempête), is slated for release on February 21, 2025 via Sub Rosa.

Sopa Boba’s latest record, ‘That Moment,’ is a modern oratorio, a 55-minute journey split into seven sharply drawn chapters. Blending neo-classical string quartet melodies with the jagged edge of modular synths, the album interrogates a society where every sentiment is for sale.

Inspired by Nicoleta Esinencu’s text and a harrowing real-life event in present-day Moldavia, the work unfolds a brutal narrative: a father punishing his son by cutting his finger over a petty theft. This grim tale morphs into a broader critique of capitalist excess, its irony and emotion piercing through each track.

With searing spoken word interludes that slice through the lush instrumentation, ‘That Moment’ challenges listeners to reconsider the cost of commodified human experience.
