The Melodrones Unveil ‘Til Kingdom Come’ from Forthcoming Debut Album

Exclusive track premiere of ‘Til Kingdom Come’ by The Melodrones, taken from the upcoming self-titled record, out April 4th via Third Eye Stimuli Records and on limited edition vinyl from Impressed Recordings.

Sydney’s The Melodrones are back with ‘Til Kingdom Come,’ the latest taste from their long-awaited debut album, out April 4th via Third Eye Stimuli and Impressed Recordings. Think 50s heartbreak channeled through 90s reverb, a smirking collision of Buddy Holly and Jesus & Mary Chain.

Frontman Rik Saunders and bassist Melissah Mirage trade vocals like a slow-dance on the edge of disaster—”Should we lie together, would we despise each other?” It’s love wrapped in barbed wire, recorded straight to tape at Golden Retriever Studio with Wade Keighran. No polish, no safety nets, just a runaway train of melody and melancholy.

The Melodrones’ debut album is a reflection of time and shifting life phases, shaped by frontman Rik Saunders’ experiences living in shared flats across Sydney and Manchester, UK while traveling abroad. Writing in a dreamlike state, he absorbed the energy of his surroundings and the people within them. One housemate, Johnny, led a relentless bluegrass band, their banjos, dobros, and mandolins filling the space…pushing Saunders to quietly craft songs like ‘I’ll Belong to You and Eyelash Wishes’ in the next room. Later, while living with Jack…whom he considers “the best songwriter Australia has never heard”—he wrote Til Kingdom Come, Bad News From Berlin, and Swimming, the latter penned by bassist Melissah Mirage.
